The Autism Epidemic

Court’s find that Vaccines CAN cause autism!
This is no longer the question, and anyone who asserts otherwise is ill-informed, or must take up their case with the US Government’s own Vaccine Court which has already ruled in favour of Vaccine-induced Autism. The successful case of Hannah Poling v’s HHS in March 2008 established the precedent, which was followed early this year (2009) by Bailey Banks v’s HHS. In both cases the court ruled in favour of a proximate sequence of cause and effect leading from vaccination with MMR to Autism. The only question that remains is how many children have been similarly damaged by vaccination and what other factors and causes may be involved. A question some 10 000 plus parents of Autistic children are waiting to have heard in court themselves.

SurveyUSA’s Autism Research 2007
This survey was commissioned by Generation Rescue and performed by the independent survey company ‘SurveyUSA’. It was designed to correspond to the CDC's national phone survey study on autism prevalence, which the CDC characterized as highly reliable and reproducible. The survey polled parents of 17 000 children who were either vaccinated or unvaccinated and compared the incidence of autism, ADHD, asthma, Asperger's syndrome, and pervasive developmental disorder (PDD) in the two groups. The results for the vaccinated boys were:
· 120 percent more likely to have asthma.
· 224 percent more likely to have ADHD
· 155 percent more likely to have a neurological disorder
· 61 percent more likely to have autism
Girls only represented 20 percent of the neurological disorder cases, and this smaller sample size did not show any significant differences.The survey cost a mere $200,000, and the authors commented on the important findings they derived from this simple and inexpensive study compared to the billions of dollars spent by the pharmaceutical industry on vaccine research.
We ARE in the midst of an Autism epidemic!
Depending on the source of the statistics Autism rates are currently somewhere between 1: 150 and 1: 48 in Australia, England and the US. In 2002 that translated into 17 new cases of Autism in Australian children every week according to researchers at West Mead Hospital, which makes 6205 cases a year NOT allowing for increases in incidence since then. In addition to this recent studies reveal that for every 3 known cases, there are a further two cases yet to be diagnosed[1].To have a sense of just how common that makes it consider that Cervical Cancer for which the Australian and US governments are spending hundreds of millions of dollars in an attempt to prevent with the experimental ‘Cancer Vaccine’ is around 4: 100000 (1:25000) and that the Polio outbreak was considered an epidemic when infections reached the much smaller rate of 35:100000. To repeat: the Autism epidemic is at 1: 85, several orders of magnitude greater than Polio at its height or any form of cancer today. As shocking as the opening graph may be, it falls short of giving an accurate picture of the extent of the acceleration in incidence we are experiencing as it finishes before the period of the greatest increase. Autism is NOT just another genetic disorder:
As appealing as the idea is that genetic engineering will eradicate disease and all that can’t be pinned on a microbe will be pinned on a gene, it simply just does not account for the autism data. Genes cannot produce epidemics, especially in the time frame we are looking at with autism. In round terms, for every two children registered with autism in the US in 1992-93, there were almost eleven by 1999-2000, with Illanois state witnessing a 48 000% increase from 5 cases in 1992 to 2445 in 1999 - a mere 7 year period. As the Government figures attached at the end of this article show we have witnessed such a dramatic increase in such a short period of time that the only serious possibilities are a virus the likes of which we have never encountered before, (therefore not really a serious possibility, simply conceivable), or an environmental trigger. The latter is definitely where any discerning scientist would put his money. Whether it be heavy metals, nerve destroying pesticides, industrial pollutants OR vaccines which contain a representative from all of the above; something in our environment has triggered the epidemic the same way sewerage in our water triggered the cholera epidemics of the 19th century. Invoking genes to explain the phenomenal increase that took place within the 7 year period from 1992 – 1999 is just bad science.
Other Possible Causes - The Gut Brain Connection:

For those parents and practitioners who were unable to attend the MINDD foundation’s recent International Conference here is a summary of the Gut – Brain hypothesis of Pervasive Developmental Disorders from ADHD to Autism as I have come to see it over the years:
· 70% of the neurotransmitters found in the brain are also found in the gut.
· 70% of the immune system is in the gut.
· 70% of autistic children have severe gut disbiosis.
· Allergic responses beginning in the gut can trigger damaging inflammatory and neurological changes in the brain.
· Toxins absorbed through the gut sometimes cross the blood brain barrier.
· Gut flora are vital in preventing inflammation and are commonly damaged by actively or passively acquired antibiotics and antibiotic containing vaccines.
· Inflammation of the brain can create neurological and psychological pathology
This is a critical concept in the understanding, management and treatment of a very broad range of developmental and immunological disorders from allergies to hyperactivity, and also provides a broader conceptual framework for understanding environmental triggers of Autism beyond vaccines alone.
Post Encephalitic Syndrome
It has been postulated that the entire spectrum of childhood developmental disorders may be due to varying degrees of encephalitis induced CNS and brain trauma. Encephalitis is inflammation of the brain and can be triggered by a broad range of things from bacterial or viral infections, toxicity and poisoning, and of course fever. Adjuvants such as aluminium are deliberately included in all modern vaccines specifically to INDUCE inflammation and therefore inhance immuno-genesis.It is therefore unsurprising that it is well known that encephalitis can also follow on from vaccination and may be suspected to have occurred even in relatively healthy and functional children if any of the following symptoms are observed:
· Instead of having epilepsy or seizures, the children suffer from what are called "staring spells" or "absence seizures."
· Instead of being mentally retarded to the point of incapacity to function in society, they suffer loss of IQ: many function just above sub-normality.
· Instead of paralysis or cerebral palsy, they may lose a degree of muscular control, or clumsiness and ataxia
· Instead of full blown autism they may have ADHD
· Instead of total auto-immunity they may be allergic and asthmatic
Vaccination, Social Violence and Criminality
In his incredible book by the above title, Dr Harris Coulter PHD argues persuasively that encephalitis is the key to understanding the effect of vaccines on human behaviour. More than just the Autism epidemic is held to be a direct result of the damaging effects of vaccines on the human central nervous system. His thesis, as I understand it, is roughly summarised as follows:
· Vaccinations can create Encephalitis
· Encephalitis gives rise to Post Encephalitic Syndrome (PES)
· PES creates learning disorders, ADHD, ataxia, PDD, decreased social skills, addictive behaviour, lowered IQ and criminal behaviour.
· These behaviours have all risen dramatically in the 20th century since vaccination was introduced.
· Criminal brains show classic signs of encephalitic damage.
· Therefore: Vaccination has contributed to increased social violence and criminality
General Nutritional Treatment:
The most important piece of information that I give in private consultations is that all of the spectrum of developmental disorders outlined above are potentially treatable, with successful case studies abounding in the American literature in particular. Although chelation therapy in particular has produced some spectacular results, there is no single treatment technique or protocol, as at present there is no apparent single cause or condition. We are dealing with a spectrum of disorders with a spectrum of catalysts. As a part of an integrative health care program the following minerals and vitamins are recommended for most clients by DAN! Trained physicians,(Defeat Autism Now):
· Calcium: 300 mg twice a day. This can be done in two doses, or once at bedtime to facilitate sleep.
· Magnesium: 50 mg twice a day
· Vitamin C: 50 mg twice a day (Many practitioners advise up to 5000mg)
· Vitamin B5: (Pantothenic Acid) 500 mg twice a day
· Vitamin B6: 100 mg twice a day1 multiple vitamin daily
· DMG: 125 mg twice a day
· Pycnogenol: 50 mg twice a day
· Gaba: 75 mg twice a day
In addition to this the elimination of foods that contain refined sugars, unfermented dairy, and gluten is a common practice especially when combined with medicines to heal and seal the gut such as aloe and slippery elm. All additives, colours and preservatives are to be strictly avoided. Professional strength Pro-biotics and home fermented products are highly recommended, as is a good EFA supplement. All of these measures should be undertaken in conjunction with professional health care guidance and support from both allopathic and integrative specialists.
Homeopathic Treatment:
Homeopathy has an enormous amount to offer in this area, and may be safely employed in the following ways:
· As an alternative or supplement to vaccination (Homeoprophylaxis)
· Prior to and following vaccination to minimise side effects
· In the treatment of vaccine induced pathology.
In terms of treatment the chelation of heavy metals via homeopathic medicines is a well studied phenomenon and a primary tool I use in my practice. In a now famous Experimental Toxicology Meta-Analysis over 100 research studies which evaluate the preventive and therapeutic action of homeopathic dosages of naturally toxic substances were examined by scientists from German research institutes and from America's Walter Reed Hospital, working together to conduct a meta-analysis. It was found that in high quality studies positive results were more than double the negative ones.

In addition to the classically indicated homeopathic medicine I also take on board the integrative research and experience of other practitioners in using anti-encephalitic medicines that are relevant to the presenting symptoms. Added to this is the isopathy approach, where a small amount of the vaccine itself is re-administered in a Homeopathic form.
Conclusion:
Although I am not sure there can be too many strictly scientifically firm conclusions at this point in time, there is ample evidence to state my personal opinion and feel confident that it is based upon real data. As I have treated UN-vaccinated children for Autism and other Pervasive Developmental Disorders I feel very comfortable in stating that vaccines are not the sole cause of the current epidemic. Having treated a greater number of vaccinated children whose parents witnessed a very noticeable decline directly following a shot such as MMR given at 12months, I am nonetheless shocked by the almost total disregard given by the orthodox medical community to the so called ‘anecdotal’ evidence provided by their clients. As I have attempted to show in the above snippets of research and information, I believe a genetic explanation is at best insufficient. An environmental trigger must be present to create the level of increase in incidence witnessed in the west, as the government reports on the disease vector all attest to. Inflammation of the bowel and brain either with or without heavy metal toxicity appears to provide the best roadmap at this point in time for understanding autism. This allows genetic susceptibility its place, but it also allows a role for gut-flora destroying antibiotics, industrial pollution, dangerous food additives and of course chemical cocktail vaccines.
